Why Do You Do the Things You Do?

Filed Under Law of Attraction |

Well, I am going away this weekend and there always seems to be a natural yearning to accomplish a whole bunch before I leave. Why? Because drama justifies my existence? Ew!! Ok, I’m going to do the things I love and enjoy the things I do. Might as well. I might even get more done.

If something you are doing isn’t bringing you peace or joy, it’s either because of the way you are going about it, or the reason you were going about it. If you are doing it because it will prove or validate something, or simply so that you can check it off your to-do list, then you aren’t doing what you’re doing for the joy/peace of it.

Most people go about their goals and daily activities hoping that the accomplishment of things will bring them joy. It’s much more productive to take joy in the activity; then you are not waiting for your circumstances to change to be happy—because you already are.

The great thing is that your built-in guidance system (called our feelings) will always tell you if you are approaching things with an unproductive perspective because you always “feel” bad or unfulfilled when you are being a “human doing” instead of a “human being.”

Think of it this way, you and I are both going to kick the bucket one day, and I would hate to think that the purpose of all this is to get stuff done. Yikes, call me a cab—if that’s true, I think I need to be on another planet! Fortunately, it’s not true.

You are free to choose how you approach your goals, activities, and life. Exercise that freedom. Why not? This life is short (and very sweet if you like)!

It’s incredible how much more powerful you can be, just by being a human being, rather than a human doing. And, it also gives you the opportunity to be present and peaceful.
