Don’t Take It Personally

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

Sometimes you might not be on the same page as another person. If you think they aren’t liking you, you might get upset. Really, however, they are upset because they do love you; they just haven’t found a way to communicate what they’re trying to say in a way that demonstrates that.

Isn’t that refreshing? That’s why they are upset—because they want to be connected, and they perceive they can’t be!

Love is a fundamental human need. Upset only happens when someone who wants to love you feels they can’t… but it’s not because they don’t.

When someone around you is struggling to remember why they like you or love you, that’s your cue to really listen to what they are saying. Are they actually saying something awful about you? How much are you reading into it? Are you taking it personally?

If you were to ask their Higher Self what they are trying to communicate, what would their Higher Self say? Usually it’s one of these: “I want to feel safe” or “I want to feel validated” or “I can’t see any other way. Can you help me?”

It’s never about you, my friend, when someone else is upset.

Taking things personally is one of the issues I see most often. When you are upset, it does not have to do with anyone else either. Upset (like happiness) is a choice. It depends on how you look at things. When another is upset around you, ask yourself, Can I make them feel safer? Can I validate them? Can I softly help them see another way?

If you can’t, it’s better to send them good vibes from afar until they are open to receive.

The Missing Peace

Filed Under Law of Attraction | 1 Comment

Isn’t it amazing that your body will actually tell you through your symptoms that you do not have peace in your mind? It will. Do you know why it gives you a headache, neck or shoulder tension, digestive issues, or poor sleep? It’s because your body is trying to point out the thoughts/vibrations you are oozing that are out of alignment with the Truth.

And what’s the Truth? That the Universe has your back at all times.

When you worry about anything, when you put pressure on yourself, you are forgetting that you are cared for by the Universe. Your body will always tell you when you are being the Czar of Drama. Your feelings are there to remind you that the purpose of life is peace, joy, and living your dreams. If you are off purpose, you will always be reminded. Isn’t that swell?

Peace of mind does not come when your circumstances change. Peace of mind comes when you decide to have faith that the Universe has your back at all times.

A peace of advice (I’m so punny!): If you are waiting for things/people to change so that you can stop worrying… well, you’d better get dinner delivered ’cause you’re gonna be there a while, my friend. If your aim is to find peace within yourself, you are actually expanding peace on the planet. If everyone was at peace with their lives, no one would need anyone else to change in order to be happy. Get the picture?

Oh, the Stress of It All!

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

I have so much to do today! It would be very easy to run around with the perspective that upcoming events are all that matters. They’re the culmination of all the work I’m doing these days. That’s not how I look at it, though.

For me, the co-creative journey that is happening now—the building, making, connecting, and creating—is so much of the fun. The events I’m working toward are just my excuse to go on a wonderful journey.

Life is simply a series of creations you give birth to. Most couples who are pregnant get just as much excitement from the process as the delivery—know what I’m saying?

Isn’t it amazing that we are the ones who decide the projects and goals that we are going to do… and then we are the ones who beat ourselves up, stress ourselves out, and weigh ourselves down with the stress of accomplishing them. If you made up the deadlines, or agreed to the job you took, or put the item on the “to do” list, then you are the one who gets to say how it all goes. Seems kind of funny that you would create the journey and then beat yourself up for the way you are going on the journey.

It’s time to lighten up! Choose what you put on your “to do” list well, take some things off your list, change the timing of the projects you have taken on that are weighing you down. You’re the boss, my friend. The purpose of life is joy—not getting things done!!

There Is No Comparison

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

Yesterday I spent 4.59 minutes comparing myself to someone else. (Maybe you’ve done this, too?) I quickly came to the conclusion that comparing myself to anyone is a hilarious and absurd waste of energy. Here’s why:

The more energy you spend worrying about how you measure up to someone else’s standards, the more you take energy away from becoming who you were meant to be. For the most part, the reason we admire/envy another is because they are fully on purpose and lined up with their gifts… and we want that.

The only reason you would attract someone like that into your life is because you must be at least as fantastic; you just need to be reminded to find your own connection. How else would you know what to aim for? You certainly weren’t presented with that person so you could waste time wishing that you were like them. There already is a “them” and the world didn’t need another one. It needed a YOU.

You can’t hear your heart’s calling when you are in your head comparing yourself to another!

Well, now that we have that straightened out, how about intending that you gain clarity on “your way of doing things” today. If your heart quite often says to do things that don’t seem like the norm, then you are a member of the Not Belonging Club (and so am I). It’s good to “not belong,” trust me. We lead big changes on the planet—but only if you’re willing to listen to that cosmic GPS system inside of you, my friend.

How could any useful information about your purpose come from anywhere other than your own heart?

Prevention and Treatment for Back Pain

Filed Under Dr. Zoltan Rona (MD) | Leave a Comment

Next to fatigue, back pain is the most common complaint I hear in everyday medical practice. Many conditions can cause back pain but the problem usually stems from injury, trauma, or repetitive strain. A poor diet, stress, and lifestyle have a great deal to do with the problem. In close to 100% of cases, surgical intervention is unnecessary and the problem can be both prevented and treated using natural, non-invasive techniques.

In some people, a bulging or herniated disc may be the reason for pain. In others, osteoarthritis of the spine, spinal stenosis, sciatica from a pinched nerve, scoliosis (hereditary or congenital), sacro-iliac joint inflammation and, rarely, tumors are the reasons for back pain.

Acute back pain can result from lifting a heavy object, taking a misstep, or falling, but it can appear out of nowhere without an obvious cause. Sometimes flu or other viral illness leads to back pain. In other cases, emotional trauma is the culprit.

In the vast majority of cases the source of pain is muscle spasm with or without inflammation and not a slipped disc, pinched nerve, spinal subluxation (chiropractic term), torn ligament or muscle. If back pain is accompanied by urinary incontinence, numbness or tingling in the legs, or an inability to move the feet or legs, the cause may be something more serious than muscle spasm and a physician should be consulted immediately. Otherwise, a number of safe and effective natural treatment and preventive measures could be utilized.

The best first-aid measure is application of cold (ice packs with or without deep cold ointments, sprays, or creams) for 15 to 20 minutes and repeated every two hours. The best position may be lying flat on the back with knees or legs raised. Avoid using heat since it will often aggravate pain in the early stages. Once the pain begins to subside, heat may speed recovery much better than cold. For the first few days after an acute back pain episode, absolute rest and immobility are essential. Avoid positions that stress the area and avoid sitting as much as possible.

Acute back pain often responds favorably to homeopathic arnica montanna (30X potency, 4 sublingual tablets taken four or more times daily plus arnica ointment or cream). To make this homeopathic remedy work well, avoid caffeine (especially coffee), mint (that includes mint toothpaste!), and camphor (found in many liniments and muscle rubs).

The best diet to follow is a high complex carbohydrate, low fat diet with plenty of raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and legumes to optimize elimination of waste from the bowel. The best juices to drink regularly are from a combination of carrots, beets, cucumber, celery, spinach, parsley, and dried olives.

Avoid using anti-inflammatory drugs like ASA, ibuprofen, and indomethacin. These and many others like them (a.k.a. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may reduce pain but may also cause stomach hyperacidity, ulcers, and bleeding from anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Also, avoid muscle relaxants since these also have side effects like drowsiness and rarely do anything to enhance healing.

Use natural anti-inflammatory analgesics like bromelain (3200 m.c.u., 500 mg four times daily on an empty stomach), pirorhiza extract root (4% kutkin, 250 mg four times daily with meals), and curcumin (500 mg three times daily with food). If pain and inflammation are chronic, use salmon, cod, or halibut liver oil (1–3 tbsp daily) plus either hempseed oil, flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil, or borage oil (1–3 tbsp daily) along with high dose vitamin E (800 IU up to three times daily). White willow bark (3-4 capsules four times daily), the herbal form of ASA, may be every bit as effective for pain as the pharmaceutical version—without the associated harmful effects.

Manipulation from chiropractors, osteopaths, massage therapists, reflexologists, physiotherapists, and shiatsu (acupressure) practitioners may occasionally produce dramatic improvement. Unfortunately, far too many individuals spend large sums of money on excessive numbers of sessions from such professionals without significant benefit. My experience is that if one or two manipulative sessions do not create obvious improvement, it is unlikely that 30 or 40 will be any better.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be helpful, as can breathing exercises; frequent stretching; back and abdominal muscle strengthening exercises; support belts and braces; magnets; the use of ergonomic furniture, equipment and tools; yoga; the Alexander Technique; and a long list of nutritional supplements.

Some helpful nutritional supplements include glucosamine sulfate, calcium, magnesium, shark cartilage, vitamin C, vitamin B6, MSM, yarrow, feverfew, boron, zinc, copper, silicon and other trace minerals, and D,L-phenylalanine. The right choice will depend on the individual’s nutritional status. Chronic back pain without any obvious reason can often be healed by determining and then eliminating food and other unsuspected allergies.

Most people can get terrific results using one or a combination of these treatments without any significant side effects. Whether for prevention or the alleviation of an acute or chronic back pain problem, the need for drugs and surgery is rarely necessary.

Great Ways to Clean Delicate Finishes in the Kitchen

Filed Under Clean Quick and Green | Leave a Comment

If you are lucky enough to have a stunning modern kitchen, you will need to know how to clean it. Many commercial cleaners are available but natural solutions do an amazing job and should be your only consideration for these projects.

Stainless steel is all the rage in kitchen design—and it looks lovely! To keep it that way, here’s what to do. Fill a sink with warm water and about a ¼ cup of white vinegar. Immerse a clean cloth in the solution and wipe away all marks and dirt. Vinegar cuts grease, so all fingerprints will be gone. Give it a quick buff dry. For the ultimate shine, blot a clean cloth in some vegetable oil and polish the appliance in the direction of the grain. Be sure to use the oil sparingly to reduce stickiness. The results are amazing—you will be blown away!

To clean a stain out of the sink, try tossing salt and lemon juice over it and wiping clean in a circular motion. This combo practically erases marks right out of any sink—think coffee, tea, etc.

To clean granite, a gorgeous addition to any kitchen, you must be extremely careful to take good care of the surface. To start, we crouch to eye level to see where the dirt is because granite can always “look” clean. Following this, focus on the areas with blotchy stains (old spills, dried-on jam, etc). We suggest using an eco-friendly marble and granite cleaner or even dishwashing liquid and hot water (you can mix a few drops into a spray bottle full of water, or simply fill the sink up—your choice). This is gentle enough to treat the stone without harming it and no harsh chemicals are used, either.

It’s a win-win situation! You can have a beautiful kitchen and maintain it easily, inexpensively, and without harming the environment or yourself.

How’s Your Sense of Humor?

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

Have you ever gotten the giggles? I have, and one time it was in church when I was little. That didn’t go over too well. I also got the giggles during a meeting when I worked at Procter & Gamble. In that case, everyone got infected with the giggles (I think we were all looking for some comic relief). So what is the big deal about laughing?

Laughing is one of the most health-giving, energy-allowing, Universe-connecting activities you can do. Why? Because it instantly puts you in the present, where infinity awaits you.

Isn’t it time to have a little humor about your life today?

Is Your Makeup Safe?

Filed Under Naturopathy | Leave a Comment

What do diazolidinyl urea, formaldehyde, acetate stearic acid, methylparaben, lead, mercury, and micronized titanium dioxide all have in common? Give up? Ok I will tell you, but you are not going to like it: They are ingredients found in many cosmetics, facial creams, and shampoos.

Most of us rarely think about what we are putting on our faces. After all, it must be safe; the government monitors the processing of these products. The sad truth is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not require companies to test their products prior to placing them on the market. And although many studies have found these chemicals and many others to be found in personal care products, nothing has been done to change it.

As consumers, it really is our responsibility to advocate for our families and ourselves. We live in a country that gives us choices, freedom to choose, even if those choices are harmful such as alcohol and cigarette smoking.

The best thing you can do is to arm yourself with knowledge.

Check the labels of all products you buy, not just makeup. There are hidden dangers in foods, too.

Go fragrance-free as many chemicals are used to give a product its distinctive odor.

If you have an eye infection, irritation, or cut then, don’t use any makeup until it clears up. Many of these chemicals can’t harm you unless they can enter the body.

Replace your makeup every three to six months. Many of us will keep our makeup for years, thinking it can never go bad. But makeup does go bad; it harbors all kinds of germs. I used to get a lot of styes and couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t until I started to replace my mascara more frequently that the stye went away. So now I replace my mascara and lipstick every two months.

Earth Day: A New Eco-Year

Filed Under Entrepreneurs with a Conscience | Leave a Comment

I was reminded today that Earth Day is coming up. According to Wikipedia, this day is “intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.” Earth Day is one of my favorite days of the year. I like to think of it as another new year—an eco-year—a time to make resolutions for the new year ahead on what I can do for the Earth instead of myself.

“Oh man, another list,” you say? Well, I like the moderation rule for everything, so just like your new year’s resolution list, let’s start small.

There’s always the main three on my list that I use as guides: reduce, reuse, recycle. I’m an avid recycler and am always reducing somehow. But for the reusing rule, I have to practice a little more. So to satisfy that one, on my next grocery shop I’m going to purchase some reusable grocery bags. It’s surprising I haven’t yet jumped on that one, but there is definitely no time like the present.

There’s nothing saying that you can’t just appreciate the Earth for all its splendor and beauty by taking a walk on a forested trail or even planting a tree, so get creative with your list. Think earthy! Just remember with any resolution or to-do list: start small, go easy on yourself, and always recognize what you’ve accomplished.

Have fun!

Overwhelm Doesn’t Need to Last Long

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

What does overwhelm mean? Well, it literally means that you perceive that you have obligations that outweigh your ability to get them done. Your first mistake is the assumption that you do anything all by yourself. Aren’t you and I an extension of the same thing that makes Milky Ways and Galaxies? The only time you will ever feel overwhelmed is when you forget that fact.

A feeling of overwhelm can be used to sabotage yourself, or it can be used to gain clarity about what you want so that your life can be easier in future. You choose!

Overwhelm is your trigger, your reminder that you forgot to ask for help or to let it in. Then again, it could simply be that you have chosen to do things you are not lined up with yet, you weren’t supposed to do in the first place, or you are doing them to prove you are good enough. So either you line up with what you are doing, cut out some jobs you don’t like, or remember your unlimited, magnificent nature. That requires no proving: you’re here aren’t you?

Manifesting Miracles

When you are thinking that you have bitten off more than you can chew, here are some questions that will help point you in the direction of ease, flow, and bliss:

1. Do I really feel inspired to do these things I have committed to? If I don’t, I have two choices: Stop doing them, or find a way to feel good about them. Either choice will put you in alignment with effortlessness and miraculous solutions to show up.

2. Have I been trying to do it all myself? If you have, you haven’t been allowing the Universe to help you. The Universe will always make you right. This actually means, if you decided that only you can do it all, the Universe loves you so much that you will get exactly what you’ve had your attention on (which is doing it all yourself).

Is it time to allow for miracles? To remember your unlimited-ness? To quiet your mind to hear solutions? To ask some friends if they can see other ways?
