How to Move On Quickly from Being Upset
Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment
Yesterday I experienced a power outage for over seven hours. At first I was annoyed; then I realized that I always ask for the perfect outcomes and unexpected miracles. Then I realized I had wanted to spend quality time with my hubby, and quiet time meditating yesterday… so I had a perfect Scrabble game with my hubby, and a VERY QUIET miraculous time with my thoughts and feelings. Perfect!
I know you’ve experienced wishing for something, and the outcome (which may be happening right now, as we speak), wasn’t what you expected. For most human beings, we judge the outcome, thinking that “life doesn’t work for me” or “I guess I will muddle through” or “how could this happen?” All of these responses are based on an assumption that either you messed up, or someone else did… or even worse, the Universe did.
There is a more productive perspective you could have: “Everything that happens to me is perfect at all times. I may not see it now, but the Universe always has my back. I just need to give up taking score when things look ’sub-optimal’ because I don’t really know.” Follow this thought with, “I have no idea what’s going to come from this, but I know it’s gonna be good” or “There must be something I am to learn first” or “Thank you for not sending exactly what I wanted right now, because I needed to change my beliefs so that what I manifest is of the highest good for me. This gave me more time to do that, and more clarity on what I want.”
Upset happens when we expect x and get y. If you start expecting the most miraculous outcomes, it won’t matter if it comes in the shape of x, y, or z because you asked for something miraculous. Therefore, the outcome must be the perfect one! That’s how you prevent upset.
If you attach yourself to how you want something to arrive, it will make you nuts. If you put your full attention on how you want to feel when it arrives, and then be in appreciation of what you already have… then, my friend, you are living in the Miracle Zone!

Natural Remedies for Sports Injuries
Filed Under Dr. Zoltan Rona (MD) | Leave a Comment
Tennis elbow, knee ligament strains, ankle sprains, and different forms of tendonitis can be a real nuisance to athletes at any level. If you are one of those people who suffer from frequent or recurrent musculoskeletal injuries, consider using some natural remedies for both prevention and to speed healing. While none of these nutritional supplements is an alternative to standard medical, physiotherapeutic, or chiropractic care, they can help these treatments work better and more quickly. Over the next few weeks, I will discuss some of the best-documented nutrients in this category.
Protein (1 gram of protein per pound of lean mass or more daily) – required for maximum muscle strength and growth, as well as to prevent muscle deterioration and loss of lean body mass to energy requirements. It is most natural to get your protein from real food rather than supplements. In that respect, the highest quality proteins, in descending order of quality based on amino acid composition, are:
• Lactalbumin (from hydrolyzed whey protein concentrate)
• Egg albumin (from egg white)
• Beef, fish, poultry
• Casein (from milk)
• Soy protein
• Vegetable protein (half the muscle building protein quality of lactalbumin)
The ion-exchange whey protein supplements (90%+ ion-exchange whey protein by weight) are good alternatives for those with limited cooking skills or an affinity for the kitchen.
L-Glutamine (4000 mg before and after exercise) – an amino acid that is vital for anyone who exercises a lot and is a favorite of most serious body builders. As a nitrogen donor, glutamine helps build proteins and repair the muscle, as well as help build up more muscle. This, in part, may be due to its ability to induce the release of growth hormone. For those taking prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs, L-glutamine will help prevent damage to the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, ulcers, and blood loss. If you are injured, L-glutamine will speed your recovery from virtually any sports injury without side effects.
Broad spectrum multiple antioxidant (1–3 capsules or more daily) – should contain at least the following nutrients: vitamin A, beta-carotene, B complex vitamins, vitamin C, E, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and N-acetyl-cysteine, a precursor for glutathione. The minerals zinc, copper, and manganese are important cofactors in the body’s production of superoxide dismutase, considered to be the most potent of the body’s protective enzymes. Antioxidants are free radical scavengers or neutralizers that also prevent the formation of free radicals in the first place.

I look around at children and observe them as they live, learn, and explore. I find it amazing that when they fall down, they cry for a few seconds, get back up, and minutes later, seem to forget their fall ever happened. Sometimes I think they’re more resilient than some adults… even me!
As an adult I appreciate this innocence; I sometimes wish I could forget some of the “falls” I’ve taken in life and get brave enough to try them again. Maybe the trick is to not forget the “fall” ever happened, but to keep going and try it again. But next time, try to do it without falling.
I think this is where most adults fail; we don’t always try something again if it hurt us the first time. Like love, or being turned down for a job. Some of us just give up all together and are perfectly happy being defeated. But that’s not what life is about. Life should always be about finding new ways of thinking, new ways of doing so that we don’t fall, in order to live a fulfilling and successful life.

Access to Miraculous Living

Are you remembering who you are today? You might be asking yourself, what is “remembering who I am” and why do I care to do that? Well, remembering is your access to an effortless life of miracles… that’s why! As for wondering what it takes to “remember who you are”, let’s have a look (assuming you would actually enjoy having an effortless life of miracles)…
Who are you? Your mind is a tool to focus energy – the same energy that creates worlds and milky ways. You are unlimited in your abilities, except for the limitations that you create in your mind. Because your mind focuses energy, you literally create the limitations as well; they would not exist except for you believing them.
You have life so that you can experience great joy, constantly expand that experience, and be an example of joy for others. You are totally free to choose what you focus on at any moment – misery or miracles. Whether you use that free will is up to you. You were provided a buffet of possibilities for what you can focus on, because not everyone likes the same thing. No matter your circumstances, you always have the ability to focus on something that makes you feel better.
Why do you want to fopcus on things that make you feel better? Because it makes you a magnet for all things of that more joyful frequency. Basically, you are a miracle worker. Have you accepted your job title yet?
Stop waiting to get to Heaven; you are here to bring Heaven with you, wherever you go.

10 Ways to Help Prevent Breast Cancer – Part 3

3. Limit your exposure to xenoestrogens
Xeno-estrogens include ethinyl estradiol used in contraceptives; methoxychlor, a pesticide that replaced the well known DDT; industrial pollutants such as bisphenol-A, used as a plasticizer; all man-made radiation; pesticides and herbicides; and many toxic cleaning products that mimic estrogen with their molecular structure.
Since hormone-disrupting chemicals mimic estrogen, it is suspected they are linked to the growing incidence of breast cancer. While researchers are only beginning to understand the health effects of these chemicals, they have already observed that hormone disruptions can result in damage to the brain, as well as the immune and reproductive systems. Very few ingredients are tested for reproductive or developmental effects caused by hormone-disrupting chemicals.
• Purchase non-bleached coffee filters, paper, napkins, toilet tissue, etc. The Environmental Protection Agency in the United States has determined that using bleached coffee filters alone can result in a lifetime exposure to dioxin that exceeds acceptable risks. Ask for office paper products whitened without chlorine.
• Use tampons and sanitary napkins made of organic cotton without chlorine. The FDA detected dioxins and dozens of other substances in conventional tampons. Look for ones that contain no chlorine, fragrance, wax, surfactants, rayon, etc.
• Do not use chlorine bleach for household cleaning or laundry. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe alternative; it breaks down to water and oxygen. Bleaches made from hydrogen peroxide are sold in health food stores.
• Use non-toxic household products. Lysol disinfectant spray may contain ortho-phenylphenol. This germ-killer is carcinogenic, according to both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and IARC. You can find non-toxic products in your health food store. The Cancer Prevention Coalition provides well researched information on avoidable exposures to consumers, environmental risks, and many other topic-related publications and resources at www.preventcancer.com.
• Use only natural underarm deodorants that are free of dangerous chemicals. Avoid antiperspirants, which contain aluminum; aluminum is toxic. In fact, one should avoid antiperspirants altogether, as they inhibit detoxification of the breasts and chest area. Underarm perspiration is an important way the body clears toxins out of the breast area.
• Avoid fluoridated toothpaste. Toothpaste without fluoride and containing natural ingredients may be purchased at most health food stores. Avoid fluoridated water and all chemically treated tap water. Drink filtered water, not “city water” that contains chlorine, or get a whole house filter. Bathe or shower in “clean” water. Fluoride can be just as poisonous as lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. For more information on the effects of fluoride visit www.fluoridealert.org, an international coalition to end water fluoridation and alert people to fluoride’s health and environmental risks.
• Many cosmetic products (including lipstick) contain lead and xenoestrogens. Brands without these suspect chemicals include Aubrey Organics, Dr. Hauschka, Logona and Weleda (just to name a few), as well as many health food store brands.
• Synthetic hair dyes increase the risk for certain types of cancers. One-fifth of cases of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma among women are linked to hair dye use. Researchers conducting the study at the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona analyzed data from six European countries and found a 19 percent increase of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cases among people who said they used hair dye. The risk increased to 26 percent for those who colored their hair 12 or more times a year. Indeed, more than a dozen studies link hair dyes with cancer, yet there are no warning labels of this hazard on these products. Certain natural dyes may be safer because they use vegetable colors. “Behind The Label” articles at www.theecologist.org provide comprehensive information about various ingredients used in coloring agents and cosmetics.

New Year, New World

I thought I would share with you a poem that a very good friend passed along to me…
A new world
Imagine a world where land is known simply as land
Not Russia or Africa, Australia or China, America or Antarctica,
Just one glorious graceland of God’s geography.Imagine a world where people are known simply as people
Not Indians or Persians, Asians, or Americans, Aborigines or Africans,
Just one brilliant bouquet of flowering humanity.Imagine this world often
One shifting from overpowering some to empowering all.
A planet evolving from ‘l love to have’ to ‘I have to love.’
A world that knows there are no sides to a globe that is round.- Diana Loomans
Happy New Year! It’s all new… This year, forgive yourself for forgetting who you really are sometimes, acknowledge your successes (however you define them) from 2007, humbly accept your magnificence… and shine it all over others. It is not virtuous to hide. You can light 1,000 candles with one that burns brightly.
Create a magical year!

You’re Not the Only One in This World

On my commute to and from work, I’ve seen new ads popping up in the transit system that target inconsiderate/obnoxious people. You know the ones who act like they are the only one on the train or bus? You hear every word of their phone conversation or get whacked in the head with their backpack. Not a very pleasant way to start or end your day, to say the least.
I always try to be aware of my surroundings and respect other people’s space, but some haven’t grasped that concept. There’s nothing we can do to really change that, and they may never become “conscious” of how or who they affect in their day-to-day life. But if advertising campaigns are surfacing about their behavior, it’s an encouraging thought that they’ll catch on so we can all enjoy at least a refreshing moment of peace every day.

Fresh Carpets and Rugs at Last!
Filed Under Clean Quick and Green | Leave a Comment
Walking into a home and smelling that “familiar smell” can be comforting, but it can also be downright nauseating, depending on the condition of the carpets. Pets, kids, shoes, dust, etc. can leave the carpets smelly in no time.
A great trick we use, especially for clients with pets, is the baking soda trick. Baking soda is an awesome deodorizer (I’ll keep writing more about its wonders), is cheap and easy, and most importantly, eco-friendly.
When cleaning, we start by sprinkling baking soda onto the carpet at the beginning of the service. The baking soda sits in the carpet and does its work (eating away at odors and such). Once we are done cleaning, we vacuum the carpets as usual; the baking soda simply gets sucked up along with everything else. The result is an odorless carpet, which neutralizes the smell of your home.
We do this every couple of weeks for places with heavy odors, and maybe twice a year for the rest of our clients for good measure. Some people like to get fancy and add things like nutmeg or lavender to the baking soda, which would leave a beautiful aroma long after the cleaning.

Natural Furniture Polish
Filed Under Clean Quick and Green | Leave a Comment
Maintaining your wood furniture properly is critical to promote longevity and cleanliness. However, have you ever seen what the spray of furniture polish looks like when it comes flying out of the canister? I liken it to a waxy hairspray. That lemony scent is there (mixed with some other mysterious scents that make you want to sneeze), and after copious amounts of spraying and rubbing, your furniture will polish up nicely.
For the most part, these products are effective, but the companies who create these products are not concerned with what the product does to you or the environment. They also include additives such as silicones, waxes, and other harmful chemicals, which can be eradicated with a natural solution.
I have tried this recipe and really like it. Pick up a flannel cloth (old or new), a bottle of white distilled vinegar, and a bottle of lemon oil (available at the health food store). Combine ¼ cup of vinegar and about 10 drops of lemon oil in a standard mixing bowl, and stir well.
To clean, take everything off the wood, dip the cloth into the mixture, and buff wood furniture to a shine. The vinegar lifts dirt out of the wood, and the oil leaves the furniture looking brilliant! I always buff in a circular motion and mentally divide the furniture into sections so that I know everything has been cleaned. I keep a dry flannel cloth on hand so that I can buff the piece dry before replacing anything to prevent rings being left.
I only do this once or twice a year, and never use it on my highly veneered finished wood pieces. The rest of the time, I find keeping wood clean means dusting the pieces and vacuuming only.

Resolve to Be Clean, Naturally
Filed Under Clean Quick and Green | Leave a Comment
With the start of a New Year, we all aim to do things that will better our lives. One thing you may wish to consider (and probably not at the top of your list of resolutions) is to use cleaning products that are better for the environment and the person doing the cleaning.
How many times have you sprayed your mirrors and felt your nose burn, or coughed in response to the mist of your glass cleaner going down your throat? Ever scrubbed your shower and felt dizzy from the fumes of the soap scum remover? Do you experience guilt when dumping a bucket of dirty water with a cleaning chemical down the pipes? Are you curious about what that lemon scent is really doing to you?
I won’t describe the scientific nitty-gritty, but I will tell you this: natural cleaning products are hitting the market fast and furious, and for good reason. They work well, and they are healthy for you, and good for the environment.
If you go to your local grocery, drug or home store, you are likely to find a shelf of products dedicated to natural cleaning, and a number of lines to choose from. The packaging tends to be more user-friendly, the scents are more pleasant (and scent-free is available for some lines as well), and they don’t have the same dangerous effects of standard cleaning solutions. You may even find some products that are concentrated, meaning you simply provide an empty spray bottle and water, and mix a few drops in for almost endless amounts of cleaning solutions.
For a few extra dollars and a bit of research, check out the options available to you for natural cleaning. Take whatever steps you can to create a clean home without using dangerous chemicals. And just to let you know, a clean home is clean when it smells like… nothing!
