Remembering to See Miracles – Every Day!

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

There are miracles around you every day. The issue is not whether they are happening, it’s whether you remember to look. When you remember who you are, you see nothing but miracles.

To help you remember who you are today, consider this:

· You are part of the river of creation that creates milky ways. What worry can you let go of?

· You are magnificent and miraculous beyond what your mind can understand… remember?

· Problems are an illusion that you make up. The truth is that everything is perfect, and when you see it that way, the problem will disappear.

· Trees and animals are there for your beauty, enjoyment and joy – even spiders! Appreciate them.

· The Earth is always in the process of perfect balance. You don’t ever need to worry about it. If you focus on your own peace and joy, it contributes to the Earth’s, as well, plus it enhances the Earth’s balance.

· When you feel how powerful you are, how loved you are, and how joyful life is, everyone else starts looking pretty beautiful, too! Even the people you thought weren’t so hot.

· All the resources of the entire Universe are at your disposal… at all times… and then some. Trying to do everything yourself is nuts.

Be vigilant for the miracles in your life today. They’ll happen anyhow – it’s just fun to notice. Start by noticing the oxygen exchange in your lungs. Even your house plants smile as you pass… have you been noticing?

The Miracle of Teamwork

Filed Under Entrepreneurs with a Conscience | Leave a Comment

I’m not much of a sports fan but I did happen to watch a movie called “Miracle” the other night and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. What I loved most was the message. Putting all the best players onto one team doesn’t necessarily make it the best team in the league. What you need to do is find the right players.

Sure, having the best people under one roof may sound great but we have to be sure to not let that wonderful competitive spirit turn ugly. Combining competition with ego can result in a so-called “team” competing against each other in order to outshine the others. How will your company ever get to the top if your team is constantly battling each other?

Through my experiences, I’ve seen this happen quite often. More than one person wants to be right or have the best idea, even though they should be thinking about what is best for the company. Others don’t want to compromise their ideas or become stubborn to change, leaving them to become difficult and uncooperative if the direction of a project changes.

This is why having the right people on your “team” means little to no office politics and better focus on the true goals of the company. So when seeking out that helping hand, find the helping hand that really does help instead of hinder.

Covering the Basics of Lupus – Part I

Filed Under Naturopathy | Leave a Comment

In this three-part series you will learn about lupus, a growing concern in our country. If lupus runs in your family then I strongly suggest you get tested. Don’t wait until you have symptoms to start taking better care of yourself.

Lupus is a chronic and progressive disease that manifests itself in the skin; however, the damage is usually occurring deep below the skin’s surface in one or more other body organs, such as the joints, kidneys, and lungs. Lupus is categorized as an autoimmune condition whereby the body’s defense system actually attacks its own cells. Normally, the body’s defense system, also known as the immune system, will only attack foreign invaders in the body. These invaders can be in the form of viruses (such as in the common cold) or something like a piece of wood (such as a splinter). Sometimes the immune system, for reasons yet unknown, will confuse its own cells as foreign, and attempt to destroy those cells. In lupus, this self-attack is characterized by inflammation or swelling, which, if left untreated, will damage surrounding tissue and organs. The disease ranges from mild flair-ups to debilitating and often life-threatening episodes.

Lupus is broken down into three distinct types: discoid lupus, systemic lupus, and drug-induced lupus. Discoid lupus only affects the skin and is characterized by a patchy, red, scaly rash most prominently found on the face, neck or scalp. Patients diagnosed with discoid lupus may also experience mouth or nose sores called ulcerations, as well as a sensitivity to the rays of the sun (photosensitivity). Drug-induced lupus is caused by a reaction to specific drugs, most notably in hydralazine, a drug used for high blood pressure, and procainamide, a drug used for cardiac rhythm problems. Because this type of lupus is drug-related, it is easier to treat than discoid lupus. The lupus will resolve itself once the medication is discontinued.

To learn about systemic lupus, tune in next week…

Know Somebody Who Annoys You? Be Thankful!

I can think of one person in particular who just makes me twitch. It wasn’t until recently that I realized… it’s because that person is my teacher! I had forgotten! That person is a profound gift to remind me that life is not all about me. Life is about making a difference… and I get to bask in the love that life produces. I am so grateful for my teachers!

When someone complains that you didn’t do something well enough, it’s to show you not to take things personally. When you get cut off in traffic, you’re being shown that you need to slow down and enjoy the present. When someone is unappreciative, s/he is showing you that you’re not acknowledging yourself enough. When someone is negative, you get to see that you are blessed with the freedom to choose your own thoughts.

And of course, when someone like me says, “I just adore you!” it absolutely means that you must be adorable.

The more you allow yourself thoughts that complain about people who you perceive to limit your experience of joy, the more you will have a limited experience of joy. The more you realize that they came here as gifts to grant you freedom from those same limiting thoughts, the more grateful you will become (and of course, the less you will take them seriously).

Paying Attention to Where Your Attention Is

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

Be enchanted by what is, and joyfully anticipate what’s to come.

Actually, you won’t be able to enjoy or even see the blessings in what’s to come unless you are enchanted by what is.

You know how people are constantly trying to fix themselves, get somewhere, get over something, or accomplish something? The only thing worth accomplishing is finding an excuse to feel good in your life right now, this minute. Otherwise, how could you ever attract more joyful things? The irony is: excuses for joy are all around us every single minute, but when we take score of things lacking, we cannot see them.

Take your attention off what causes you strife and struggle, and put your attention on appreciating what is working and is beautiful in your life… or is at least better than whatever gives you grief. The power of your thought and attention is infinite. What can you put your attention on that brings you most joy today?

I love taking score of joy.

Shopping Smart

A friend of mine mentioned that she recently lucked into some organic strawberries at the grocery store – for the same price as the conventional ones! I usually buy organic produce whenever it’s available, without even looking at the conventional side of the produce section. Some people may be “in transition”, moving toward more organic purchases. My friend’s story is a great reminder that it pays to comparison-shop! Depending on seasonality and growing location, you might be fortunate enough to find some fabulous organic deals. Chances are, once you’ve tasted organic produce (some in particular often taste worlds better than their conventional counterparts – like carrots!), you may not want to go back.

Trust Your Cosmic GPS

Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment

The two most popular places to hear the “I have a hard time trusting” conversation are with teenagers and in romantic relationships. Did you know that if you have a hard time trusting others, it’s not really about them – you really have a hard time trusting your own internal guidance? Most people look outside themselves for evidence that they can trust… when truly, your internal guidance (a.k.a. gut, feelings, cosmic GPS system, barometer – you get the picture!) is the place to start looking.

In order to truly trust the world around you, you must learn to become a master “cosmic GPS system” reader. Let me explain. The Universe gave you sight, smell, taste etc. It’s interesting how we miss the most important sense the omnipotent creator of Universe gave us – it’s called “how you feel”. It’s a sense, my friend. Most people think of “how they feel” as simply the response to their circumstances. Nope! “How you feel” is like God’s microphone telling you whether what you are thinking about current circumstances takes you toward or away from your blissful, dream-fulled life. So, if you make your life about worrying about trusting others, you truly are taking yourself on a goose chase. All that matters is that you learn to trust your “cosmic GPS”. If what you are thinking feels better, it is more toward YOUR TRUTH; if what you are thinking about your circumstances feels bad, it means that your thoughts are not close to your truth… so it would benefit you greatly to find better feeling-thoughts that bring you peace in your heart.

Teenagers are much better at reading their guidance systems; that’s why they push against you so hard… because they know they are safe, can trust themselves, and will be fine. And you cannot read another’s barometer – only yours. Generally when parents get worried about a child, it’s because their thoughts are about a potential future that has not even happened yet. Their child’s thoughts are not there – their child’s thoughts are in the present, where all things are possible. Ditto for romantic relationships.

Trust yourself. Take action that is obvious and inspired… not fear-based.

Rule #4 in Dr. Ritchason’s Golden Rules of Health

Filed Under Herbalist | Leave a Comment

Well, I’m sorry, everyone – I was so into the later rules, I missed the 4th Golden Rule: “Have moderation in all things.” Don’t go nuts, in other words. So self-explanatory, but so true. Many times clients come to me and want desperately to be put on a severe regimen for getting well; they want a hard-core cleansing program that is very stressful on the body. This is the “heroic” mode of healing. My message to them is to be gentle on your body – feed the body the nutrition it requires (and I help people sort through all the choices and help them make the one best for them at the time). When the body is strong enough, it will undergo cleansing in its own time – generally called a “healing crisis.” So have moderation in natural healing. And every so often, if you need to “cheat” on the diet – that’s OK, too. A healthy body can handle it.

Do You Have a Career? Or Just Another Job?

Filed Under Entrepreneurs with a Conscience | Leave a Comment

My mom has been at her job for over 35 years. That’s pretty amazing, given the way things are these days. One day I asked her if that career was something she sought out to do when she was younger; she told me that it was just something that happened to fall into her lap at the age of 18. She enjoyed what she did, so never really thought of the other possibilities.

Like her, there may be many who find themselves in a great career that happened to fall in their lap and they are perfectly happy with how it turned out. However, some of us may find ourselves in “just a job”, finding frustration in the fact that there is no room for advancement or growth.

I, myself, have had a few of these. It wasn’t what I really wanted to do but I stuck around to see out the possibilities. I ended up getting too comfortable and not pushing my limits, hence stunting my creative growth. With this came unhappiness and I knew it was time to land that career I had worked so hard for in school.

Think of it: we spend 40 hours (or more) at our place of work. Multiply that by 40 years. That’s a huge chunk of our lives, so why not spend it being a little happier in what we do every day?

The good thing is, one always has the power to change direction. Remember what lit your fire when you were young and tap into those passions. Hopefully there’s a career out there that suits everything you want and need, so you can be rid of those “jobs” for good.
