Defining Perfection
Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment
Do I want my life to go perfectly? What the heck is perfect anyway? And who decides what perfect is?
If I ever got life “right”, if I totally and completely figured it all out, what would be the point of living? Everything would be predictable! I could just sit on my butt thinking, “Wow, it’s all so perfect.” BOOORRRRINNNNG!
Maybe the way things are is already perfect! Every hardship creates the next profoundly joyful moment, dream and desire. Without new challenges, there would be no renewal of desires or manifestation of new dreams.
So if everything is perfect, what do I really want? Every day, every week, and every year I want the amount of time I spend feeling challenging, icky feelings to be smaller and smaller, and the amount of time I spend in the dream, the manifestation and the creation that comes from it, to be bigger and bigger. Hey, that’s already happening for me! How about you?
Have you ever beat yourself up because you haven’t gotten somewhere you’ve been trying to get to? The great thing is – you are the one who made up the dream, so you get to decide whether you enjoy the unfolding or wish it came faster. Why feel bad about things you haven’t changed yet… especially when the blessings around you massively outweigh the challenges?
What do you want to focus on? I prefer the thoughts that feel better. Today (or maybe forever – you choose), focus on how far you have come, instead of how far you’ve got to go.

Living the Dance of Gratitude
Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment
If all you did all day long was to look for things to be grateful about, you would simply manifest more things to be grateful about. It still astounds me how busy we all get, and how much so many of us take for granted.
Today, I was busier than I have ever been – no exaggeration. In the past, I would have been annoyed, frustrated and wondering when I get to “live my life”, but today I got to see how much my thoughts have shifted. Today, in the middle of incredible activity, I felt overwhelmingly appreciative of my team, those I work with, you, the air, my eyes, food… so very, very blessed.
Have you seen “The Gratitude Dance” yet? Watch the video at www.juniorattractors.com, and then do the dance every day! The Gratitude Dance was created by the “Grati-dudes”, Brad and Matty. These two young men (both under the age of 30) got themselves out of their stressful, stuck patterns by looking at what they are blessed with and how far they have come instead of how much further they have to go. Every time something challenging happens to them, instead of focusing on “Why, oh why?”, they use what they do not like to more clearly clarify what they do want.
The funny thing is, the more grateful we are, the more help we attract and the easier and more miraculous life gets! Who have you neglected, taken for granted or not thanked? Who can you acknowledge today? Go do that (all it takes is a “Thank you”)… and watch what happens to their mood – and yours!

Rule #7 in Dr. Ritchason’s Golden Rules of Health
Filed Under Herbalist | Leave a Comment
“You must take responsibility for yourself and your health.” That is the 7th Golden Rule of Health. North Americans are pretty good at this rule. I’m 57 years old; when I was growing up, doctors made house calls and people didn’t have access to medical information, except through their physicians. This has changed with technology and the internet, and I think we have become more cynical – we don’t simply accept what we are told. Although doctors have their place, it is critical to take responsibility for your own health and the health of your family; you cannot leave it entirely up to others. I’m at the age where my friends are starting to have serious health issues, cancer etc. I notice that the ones who do the best are the ones who actively seek out different opinions, medical studies, and natural alternatives. Having been very sick, I can say that that’s what I did, and it made all the difference!

Communication Can Make It or Break It
Filed Under Entrepreneurs with a Conscience | Leave a Comment
Last week, I was excited to receive a letter from a charity I had recently donated money to. I flipped it open only to read that they needed more money. To my surprise there was only a small portion of the letter dedicated to how donations are helping. I was upset and shocked to think that a charity with such a good reputation within the community wasn’t more sensitive to how they communicated with their donors. As a donor, I want to hear how my “little bit” is helping, what new programs they have in place, and how many lives were saved or enriched due to improved services. In my eyes, this letter came across as negative and ungrateful. Why should I donate again if what I’m doing isn’t helping just the littlest bit?
In discussing my point of view with the charity’s marketing director, it became clear that it was in no way meant to come across as I had perceived it, but they needed to be made aware of their error. Instead of communicating their position on the matter, many people might have simply not donated another penny. A miscommunication is understandable but if it was a different situation, it could have cost that charity a donor/client.
Opening letters, reading email, and conversing with people are everyday occurrences; miscommunications are bound to happen and could cost you a client, a business partner, an employee, an interview, a job. So to make the most of your communications, it’s best to practice taking a little more care in writing. Even the smallest of memos or the shortest of sentences could mean the difference between “make” or “break”.

Fight Bacteria with Sonic Toothbrushes

Sonic toothbrushes are my favorite style. Did you know the sonic vibrations dismember bacteria and the effects go beyond where the brush is placed?
Also, keep your eyes open for ultraviolet sterilizers for your sonic toothbrush. These sterilization units are stand-alone or sold with sonic toothbrushes.

Healing Resistance with Sleep
Filed Under Law of Attraction | Leave a Comment
“What is resistance? It is the act of not trusting that there is a General Manager of the Universe – and it’s not you. You’ll know you are resistant when you need more sleep! Notice how little kids need sleep?” J. Hough
To help you understand the importance of taking the limits off your beliefs, here are some facts about sleep and resistance:
1. It is the only time during your life that you are resistance-free, in a total space of allowing for miracles.
2. Sleep lets you recover from the energy you lost while you were awake, when you were pushing against possibility and trying to do everything effortfully.
3. The more resistant you are, the harder you try, and the more you struggle, the more sleep you are going to need.
4. Dreams are simply messages. They are awesome reminders to you of beliefs that are working for you as well as those you have to transform.
5. All dreams are good dreams because they all come from your cosmic guidance system. They are all symbolic, not literal.
6. When you are depressed, you like to sleep, to take a break from your disconnected thinking. It’s exhausting being right that something’s wrong, when every fiber of your being knows that in an instant, you could find what is right!
7. If you want to be able to sleep less, do the following: count your blessings daily, trust that everything is going perfectly, acknowledge yourself, be grateful for others (out loud), tell people you love them, imagine your dreams, collect evidence for the dreams that are on the way, and most of all… laugh a whole bunch.

Local Foods Simply Feel Better
Filed Under Natural Cooking | Leave a Comment
Does it make a difference if I know who grew the food that I eat, or at least where it comes from? I would answer that with an emphatic “yes!” for much the same reason that I prefer to eat in restaurants with a peaceful ambiance, allowing me to at least believe that the cook in the kitchen is in a good emotional space, allowing only healing energy to go into the food.
The farmers’ market is a great way to get to know where your food comes from. Imagine how it might be different if you talked with the farmer the day you bought some sweet, crunchy carrots at the market, and she told you that she and her husband had plucked them from the earth just the day before. Or maybe you’d enjoy that first bite into a crisp apple just a little more if you knew it had come from a farm not too far away from the urban center where you live. Even better if it’s certified organic! If you’re not able to traipse off to a farmers’ market, you can look for details about where your fruits and veggies come from on the signs in the produce section at the grocery store where you shop.
In addition to being great for the economy and supporting workers close to home, choosing local food products can usually keep you confident that what you’re buying is safe – and is what it claims to be. A popular investigative news show, W-FIVE (on CTV), has an exposé scheduled to air on October 27, 2007. According to their website, this episode will discuss concerns that some foods being sold and marketed as products of Canada may actually have been grown or processed in China, a country that is poorly regulated and spews out foods that may not be as safe as they appear. This looks like TV that’s worth my time, so I’m marking my calendar!

Job’s Tears: The Fabulous Grain That’s Hard to Find
Filed Under Natural Cooking | 1 Comment
Words cannot express how much I love Job’s tears. I first encountered them when I was studying at the School of Natural Cookery®. This hearty, hardy, robust grain looks like it must be some ancient cousin of barley, but happily for Celiacs (like my dad and my favorite cousin), this gluten-free heavenly creation isn’t related to barley – it’s actually the seed from a kind of grass. Job’s tears (Coix lacryma-jobi) are also known by their Japanese name, hato mugi. They look like plump, round barley pearls, and they cook up nice and chewy for sustainable energy that gives you complex carbohydrates, fiber and minerals. Job’s tears are especially easy to cook if you have a pressure cooker, but even a sturdy pot with a heavy cover will do.
Job’s tears have been revered for centuries (perhaps millennia!) for their strengthening energy. I’ve also read that they can help dissolve and expel excess mucus from the body. You can find out more by checking some popular natural health/food reference books, or even by searching online. Check them out and then see if you can track some down!
There are at least a couple of different brands of Job’s tears sold in natural food stores; they may also be sold in bulk, but be aware that Job’s tears are delicate and need to be kept cool (I keep mine in the refrigerator), so shop smart and choose wisely. If you can’t find them, ask the manager of your local health food store to stock them. Once the public gets to know Job’s tears (hato mugi), they’re sure to be worth their space in the cooler.

Kitchen Staples for Natural Cooking
Filed Under Natural Cooking | Leave a Comment
What to eat? That is the question. First I begin with what I have in the house. No, first I shop to make sure I have something in the house. I stock my pantry with buckwheat groats, a variety of rices (like black forbidden rice and kokoho rose medium grain brown rice), Job’s tears, millet, and a variety of oats (steel-cut, rolled and whole). Amaranth has been a staple lately, too. Other must-haves are olive oil, light and dark (toasted) sesame oil, plus safflower and coconut oil for deep-frying and popcorn. I frequently turn to tamari, miso, umeboshi, a variety of vinegars… and my best friend, sea salt.
Shopping is easy because I select a variety of colors from the vegetable offerings and decide on which proteins my body wants to eat this week. Vegetables that I keep around are onions, winter squash in the winter, cabbage, carrots, usually some celery and maybe green onions, although they really don’t “keep”.
Now I can open the cupboard and just cook.

Whether there is a heaven or a hell, you are on Earth right now… so why not create your life with joy and love while you’re here? That’s why we invented Heavenly Hash ice cream – so we could even taste a piece of heaven!
If you focus on your limitations, it will feel like hell; if you focus on your unlimitedness and blessings, it will feel like heaven. So today, right now, look for 5 heavenly things that already exist in your life… things that make your life a juicier place! Savor those today.
“Why wait for heaven when you can create it on Earth now?”
