Time is on My Side

A client of mine came into my office last week very upset. She felt overwhelmed by the number of tasks her boss was handing her lately and she was panicking because she didn?t feel like she could accomplish them in a timely matter. As her boss? expectations rose, her feelings of inadequacy did too.
After listening to her complaints, I felt she could really benefit from a couple of mantras. I recommended the following to her: “Time is on my side?; ?Time is my friend?; ?I always have more than enough time for all the things that I wish to do?; ?I am excellent at prioritizing.” I also suggested to her to take five deep breaths several times a day and especially when she felt any time-related anxiety coming on.
About a week later, she came back to my office and she looked like a different person. She commented on how repeating the mantras in her head several times a day, as well as doing deep breathing, gave her a new perspective. She found she was better able to prioritize her day and was surprised how she was able to get things done.
Jealousy: A Thing of the Past

Your neighbor just bought a fancy new car but you?re still driving the same car you?ve had for the past 10 years; Your colleague is going on a 2 week vacation but you haven’t been able to afford a decent getaway for at least 4 years; Your best friend is a successful businessman, but you can?t seem to catch a break?
No matter how happy we may be for other people, it’s still hard not to keep that little feeling of jealousy or envy at bay.
So how do you cope with jealousy and envy?
Whenever my clients or I am confronted with such a situation, I always recommend the following:
In your mind, say the following: “Good for you and good for me too. Good for you that you?re doing so well. I?m thankful that my good fortune is already on its way so I too can enjoy many joyful moments just like you.”
Eventually, as you learn to say it often and at just the right times, you will genuinely begin to believe it in your heart and because your negative emotions are no longer there (or minimized), you will begin to attract joy, good fortune and/or whatever else you are trying to bring into your life.

How Dentistry Can Help with Snoring and Sleep Apnea
Filed Under Wellness Based Dentistry® | 1 Comment
I take a keen interest in my patients’ overall well-being. I look at how the mouth impacts the body. In the past several years research has helped us realize how dentistry can help people who suffer from sleep apnea and snoring. Are you aware that sleep apnea is undiagnosed in 80% of cases?
- Not being treated for sleep apnea can possibly reduce your life span by 8 years.
- Snoring is “pathological” - contrary to previous belief that it is “normal”.
Some of the consequences of sleep apnea on our cardiovascular system are:
- 25% of sleep apnea patients have cardiac ischemia.
- 50% of sleep apnea patients have hypertension.
- 40% of people with stroke have sleep apnea.
- 40% of people with a myocardial condition have sleep apnea.
Some of the consequences on our neurocognitive system are:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness.
- Increased motor vehicle accidents, work accidents and poor job performance.
- Lower threshold leading to depression.
- Reduced quality of life.
- 80% of ADD/ADHD diagnosed patients have sleep apnea.
Snoring and sleep apnea are widespread. We have incorporated into our practice specialized screening tools including a pharyngometer, rhinometer and take-home sleep recording devices. We work in conjunction with medical doctors and sleep disorder specialists in order to arrive at a definitive diagnosis. The anti-snoring and sleep apnea intra-oral appliances, which are individually fabricated, help patients have better quality sleep thus increasing their quality of life.
